D.10.A.D.   Preparations for the treatment of acne for external use containing retinoids

D.10.A.D.53   Adapalene in combination with other drugs

    Pharmacodynamics:

Benzoyl peroxide as a source of active form of oxygen quickly penetrates into the pores of the skin, strengthens metabolic processes and has a bactericidal action (Propionibacterium acnes). Effective for correction of non-inflammatory acne, namely open and closed comedones, thanks to keratolytic and comedological actions.

Adapalene has a retinoid-like action, like vitamin A, by interacting with intranuclear keratocyte receptors, activates transcription factors, enhancing the regenerative abilities of the skin. Has a photosensitizing effect.

The combination of the keratolytic and keratoplastic component provides a positive effect in the treatment of comedones. Benzoyl peroxide is the conductor of adapalene in the lower layers of the epidermis and in the sacs of the hair follicles, as a result of which the effectiveness of the combined preparation increases several fold, compared with the use of drugs alone.

    Pharmacokinetics:

Benzoyl peroxide does not penetrate the subcutaneous tissue further, the effect of the drug on the basal membrane of the dermis is limited to its surface.

Adapalene is also not absorbed into the total bloodstream and does not have systemic effects on the body.

    Indications:

Used for the treatment of acne eruptions, including with discharge acne. Positive effect is observed after 1-2 weeks. The course of treatment is up to 6 weeks. In the treatment of actinic dermatosis - up to 9 months.
