The roots contain mucous substances, starch, pectin and other biologically active substances.
Description:

Pieces of roots of various shapes. Color is yellowish-white or grayish-white. The smell is weak, peculiar. The taste of the water extract is sweetish with a sensation of mucus.

    • Pharmacodynamics:The infusion from the roots of the althaea possesses reflex expectorant as well as local anti-inflammatory action; reduces the viscosity of bronchial secretions.
    Indications:

    In the complex therapy of infectious-inflammatory diseases of the respiratory tract, accompanied by a cough with hard-to-separate sputum (including bronchitis, tracheitis).

    Contraindications:

    Hypersensitivity to the drug, children under 3 years.

    Pregnancy and lactation:

    Application during pregnancy and during breastfeeding is possible if the expected benefit to the mother exceeds the potential risk to the fetus and the baby. It is necessary to consult a doctor.

    Dosing and Administration:

    About 6 grams (1 tablespoon) of roots are placed in enameled dishes, poured into 200 ml (1 glass) of cooled boiled water, covered with a lid and heated in a boiling water bath for 15 minutes, cooled at room temperature for 45 minutes, filtered, the remaining raw material squeezed.The volume of the infusion obtained is adjusted to 200 ml with boiled water.

    Take 3-4 times a day after meals: adults and children over 14 years old - on 1 / 2-1 / 3 glasses, children from 6 to 14 years - 1-2 tablespoons, children from 3 to 5 years - 1 dessert spoon.

    The course of treatment is 2-3 weeks. Repeated courses are possible on the recommendation of a doctor.

    Before use, the infusion is recommended to be shaken.

    Side effects:

    Allergic reactions are possible.

    Overdose:

    To date, cases of overdose have not been documented.
