Description:

Colorless, transparent, volatile liquid with a pungent odor.

    • Pharmacodynamics:

    Analeptic, antiseptic; when inhaled, causes irritation of the mucous membrane of the respiratory tract and reflexively excites the respiratory and vasomotor centers, has an irritating effect on the skin. In high concentrations causes a reflex stop of breathing.

    Has a disinfecting effect on the skin. With prolonged contact, the irritant effect on the skin can go into cauterization (coagulation of proteins) with the development of hyperemia, edema and soreness.

    Pharmacokinetics:

    Rapidly excreted in any mode of administration, mainly by the lungs and bronchial glands.

    Indications:Fainting, disinfection of the skin of hands, neutralization of acid toxins with insect bites (ants, mosquitoes, wasps, bees, etc.).
    Contraindications:

    Hypersensitivity; at external application - infringement of integrity of integuments, inflammatory diseases of a skin (including a dermatitis, an eczema), etc.skin diseases at the site of the intended application.

    Dosing and Administration:

    Inhalation, externally.

    To stimulate respiration and excrete patients from syncope - inhalation: gently bring a small piece of cotton wool or gauze, moistened with ammonia, to the nasal holes (0.5-1 s).

    In surgical practice used for disinfection of the skin of hands by the method of SI. Spasokukotsky and I.G. Kochergina (to prepare a solution of 25 ml of ammonia dissolve in 5 liters of warm boiled water).

    Side effects:

    Stopping breathing (reflex, when inhaled in high concentrations), hyperemia, swelling, tenderness of the skin (at the site of application).

    Solution for external use and inhalation, 10%.

    Packaging:

    40 ml in bottles of orange glass with a screw mouth, sealed with stoppers and caps screwed on.
