Composition:

One tablet contains:

Description:

    • Pharmacodynamics:

    The preparation Biofer contains iron in the form of a polymaltose complex of ferric hydroxide (III). This macromolecular complex is stable and does not release iron as free ions in the gastrointestinal tract. The structure of the Biosphere is similar to the natural ferritin iron compound. Due to this similarity, iron (III) comes from the intestine into the blood via active transport. It is this property that explains the impossibility of drug overdose, in contrast to simple iron salts, which are absorbed through a concentration gradient.The absorbed iron binds to ferritin and is stored in the body, mainly in the liver. Then, in the bone marrow it is included in the hemoglobin. Iron, which is part of the polymetose complex of ferric hydroxide (III), does not have pro-oxidant properties, unlike simple iron salts. There is a correlation between the severity of iron deficiency and the level of its absorption (the greater the severity of iron deficiency, the better the absorption). The most active absorption process occurs in the duodenum and small intestine.

    Folic acid - a vitamin B group, stimulates erythropoiesis, participates in the synthesis of amino acids, nucleic acids, purines, pyrimidines, in the exchange of choline.

    Biofer in the dosage form of the tablet chewing does not cause staining of the enamel of the teeth.

    Indications:

    • Treatment of latent and clinically pronounced iron deficiency (iron deficiency anemia).
    • Prevention of iron deficiency and folic acid, including, before, during and after pregnancy (during lactation).

    Contraindications:

    • Age to 12 years
    • Iron overload (hemochromatosis)
    • Disturbance of iron utilization (lead anemia, sidero-achestic anemia, thalassemia)
    • Non-iron deficiency anemia (hemolytic anemia, megaloblastic anemia, caused by a lack of vitamin B12).

    Carefully:

    With caution should apply the drug with peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum, as well as in inflammatory diseases of the digestive tract.

    One Biopfer tablet contains 0.06 bread units, which should be taken into account when prescribing to patients with diabetes mellitus.

    Pregnancy and lactation:

    In controlled studies in pregnant women in the second and third trimester of pregnancy, there was no undesirable effect of the drug on the mother and fetus. During the first trimester of pregnancy, the drug should be used only if the potential benefit from using the drug in the mother exceeds the possible risk to the fetus.

    Dosage and duration of therapy depend on the severity of iron deficiency. The daily dose of the drug can be taken once a day. Biofer in tablets should be taken during or immediately after meals. They can be chewed or swallowed whole.

    Children over 12 years of age, adults and nursing mothers:

    treatment of clinically significant iron deficiency (iron deficiency anemia) - 1 tablet 1-3 times a day for 3-5 months before the normalization of the hemoglobin level in the blood. After this, the drug should be continued for several more months in order to restore iron stores in the body (1 tablet a day).

    Pregnant women You should take 1 tablet of Biosystem 2-3 times a day before the normalization of hemoglobin. Then the therapy should be continued in the regime of 1 tablet 1 time per day, at least until the birth to restore iron stores.

    For the therapy of latent iron deficiency and for the prevention of iron deficiency and folic acid, patients should take 1 tablet of the drug 1 time per day.

    Duration of treatment of iron deficiency anemia is 3-5 months before the normalization of iron stores in the body, for pregnant women, at least until childbirth.

    The duration of treatment of latent iron deficiency is 1-2 months.

    Side effects:

    Very rarely (greater than or equal to 0.001% and less than 0.01%) gastrointestinal irritation symptoms may occur, such as overflow sensation, epigastric pressure, nausea, constipation or diarrhea, and allergic reactions to folic acid.

    Perhaps the dark staining of the stool, caused by the release of non-sucked iron (a clinical value does not matter).

    Overdose:

    To date, in cases of drug overdose, neither toxicity nor signs of iron overload have been reported.

    Interaction:
