Composition:

Characteristic

Cowberry leaves contain phenolic glycosides (arbutin, methylarbutin, etc.), tannins and other biologically active substances.

Description:

Pieces of leaves of various shapes passing through a sieve with apertures 3 mm in size. Color from light green to dark green. The smell is absent. The taste of water extract is bitter, astringent.

  • Pharmacodynamics:

    Decoction of cranberry leaves has an antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and diuretic effect.

    Indications:

    In the complex therapy of inflammatory diseases of the urinary bladder and urinary tract (cystitis, urethritis).

    Contraindications:

    Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.

    Acute renal failure, acute glomerulonephritis, pregnancy, children under 12 years.

    Pregnancy and lactation:

    Application in the period of breastfeeding is possible if the expected benefit for the mother exceeds the potential risk for the child. It is necessary to consult a doctor.

    Dosing and Administration:

    About 6 g (1 tablespoon) of cowberry leaves are placed in enameled pots, pour 200 ml (1 glass) of hot boiled water, cover with a lid, insist on a boiling water bath for 30 minutes, filter without cooling. The remaining raw material is squeezed. The volume of the resulting broth is brought to 200 ml with boiled water.

    Apply inwards 1-2 tablespoons 3-4 times a day 40 minutes after eating. The course of treatment is 20-25 days. It is possible to repeat the course after a 10-12 day break, but not more than 4 courses a year.

    It is recommended to stir the broth before use.

    Side effects:

    Perhaps the development of allergic reactions.

    When taking large doses of cranberries or with their long-term use, there may be an exacerbation of inflammatory diseases of the kidneys as a result of prolonged irritation of the renal tubules.

    Overdose:

    Cases of overdose have not been registered to date.

    The use of the drug does not affect the performance of potentially hazardous activities requiring special attention and quick reactions (vehicle management, work with moving mechanisms).
