Characteristic
Fennel ordinary fruits contain essential oil, flavonoids, carotene, vitamin C, phytoncides.
Description:

Fetus is a fruit spleen, dividing into two half-fruits (merikarpia). Merikarpii oblong, almost cylindrical, bare. At the top are the remains of a five-toothed calyx, a super-disc with two diverging columns. The external side of the mericarp is convex, the inner side is flat. Each merikarpii with five strongly protruding longitudinal ribs: three of them are on the convex side and two are more developed - on the sides. The seed in the merikarpii is one, fused with the pericarp. The length of the fruit is 4-10 mm, width - 1.5-4 mm.

The fruit color is greenish-brown. The smell is strong, fragrant. The taste of the water extract is sweetish-spicy.

  • Pharmacodynamics:

    Infusion of fennel fruits has carminative, spasmolytic, and also expectorant effect. It has weak diuretic properties, promotes strengthening of lactation.

    Pharmacological properties of the drug are due, to a large extent, reflex reactions associated with irritation of sensitive nerve endings of the gastrointestinal tract and respiratory tract.

    Indications:

    The drug is used in adults and children with flatulence (as a carminative agent), intestinal colic, and also as an expectorant in complex therapy for inflammatory diseases of the respiratory tract (tracheitis, bronchitis, pneumonia, whooping cough).

    Contraindications:

    Hypersensitivity to the drug.

    Pregnancy and lactation:

    Application during pregnancy and during lactation is possible if the expected benefit for the mother exceeds the potential risk to the fetus and the baby. It is necessary to consult a doctor.

    Dosing and Administration:

    10 grams (1.5 tablespoons) of fruit are placed in enameled dishes, pour 200 ml (1 glass) of hot boiled water, cover with a lid and insist on a boiling water bath for 15 minutes, cool at room temperature for 45 minutes, filter, the remaining raw material is squeezed. The volume of the infusion obtained is adjusted to 200 ml with boiled water.

    Infusion is taken orally in a warm form 3-4 times a day: adults and children over 12 years old - 1/3 cup; children from 7 to 12 years - 1-2 tablespoons; children from 3 to 6 years - 1 tablespoon; children under 3 years - 1 / 2-1 teaspoon.

    Before use, the infusion is recommended to be shaken.

    Allergic reactions are possible.
