    Pharmacodynamics:Gerpferon ® - ointment for local and external use - a combined preparation that has antiviral, anti-inflammatory, immunomodulating and analgesic effects.
    Interferon alfa-2b human recombinant has a pronounced antiviral activity (suppresses the replication of the virus in infected cells) and immunomodulating effect (enhancement of phagocytic activity of macrophages in lesion sites).
    Acyclovir has a pronounced antiviral effect. Highly active against Herpes simplex virus type 1 and type 2; a virus that causes varicella and herpes zoster (Varicella zoster).
    Lidocaine has a local anesthetic and moderate antipruritic effect.The combination of active ingredients provides a more pronounced anti-herpetic effect: prevents the formation of new elements of the rash, reduces the likelihood of cutaneous dissemination, accelerates healing, and reduces pain.
    Pharmacokinetics:When using ointment systemic absorption is low: on intact skin - minimal absorption, in blood and urine is not determined, on the affected skin, the absorption is moderate.
    Indications:Primary and recurrent herpetic lesions of the skin and mucous membranes, genital herpes, herpes zoster.
    Contraindications:Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.
    Pregnancy and lactation:Data on the use of the drug during pregnancy and during lactation are not available. Therefore, the use of the drug in these categories of patients should be only if the expected therapeutic effect exceeds the risk of development of possible side effects.
    Dosing and Administration:The preparation Gerpferon®, ointment for local and external application is applied to the affected skin and mucous membranes with a thin layer 5 times a day at intervals of 4 hours. The duration of treatment is 5-10 days.
    Side effects:It is possible to peel the skin in a place of prolonged application of the ointment.
    Overdose:Cases of drug overdose have not been identified.
    Interaction:The drug is compatible and well combined with anti-inflammatory and immunomodulating medications.
    Special instructions:The effectiveness of drug treatment will be higher the earlier it was started (at the first signs of infection).
    Effect on the ability to drive transp. cf. and fur:Does not affect the ability to drive a vehicle or to perform potentially dangerous activities requiring special attention and quick reactions (working with moving mechanisms, etc.).
