Composition:

Buckthorn bark.

Characteristic:

The bark of the buckthorn is alder-like or the buckthorn is fragile contains anthraglycosides (frangulin,glucofranquine, frangulaemodine, chrysofic acid), tannins, organic acids, essential oil, sugars.

Description:

Pieces of bark of various shapes passing through a sieve with apertures 7 mm in diameter. The outer surface of the bark is more or less smooth, dark brown, gray-brown, dark gray or gray, often with whitish cross-stretched lenticels or gray spots: with a slight scraping of the outer part of the plug, a red layer is found. The inner surface is smooth, yellowish-orange or reddish-brown. Fracture is light yellow, uniformly small-bristly. The smell is weak. The taste of water extract is bitterish.

    • Pharmacodynamics:

    Decoction of the buckthorn bark has a laxative effect due to the presence of anthraglycosides, which irritate the receptors of the mucous membrane of the colon. The laxative effect usually occurs 8-12 hours after ingestion.

    Indications:Chronic constipation.
    Contraindications:Hypersensitivity to the drug, constipation of neurogenic and endocrine origin, spastic constipation,intestinal obstruction, acute abdominal syndrome, appendicitis, enteritis, colitis, metrorrhagia, acute febrile conditions. Pregnancy, lactation, children under 12 years.
    Dosing and Administration:

    20 g (2 tablespoons) of crushed bark are placed in enameled dishes, pour 200 ml (1 glass) of hot boiled water, cover with a lid and insist on a boiling water bath with frequent stirring for 30 minutes. Then it is cooled at room temperature for 10 minutes, filtered, the remaining raw material is squeezed. The volume of the resulting broth is brought to 200 ml with boiled water.

    Take 1/2 cups a night and in the morning.

    It is recommended to stir up the broth before use.

    Side effects:Allergic reactions (skin rash, abdominal pain), staining of urine in yellow (due to the presence of chryphonic acid) are possible.
    Overdose:Colic pain in the abdomen, tenesmus. Treatment: symptomatic.
    Special instructions:

    It is not recommended to take the product for a long time without consulting a doctor.

    With prolonged use of drugs, habituation and weakening or the absence of a laxative effect may develop, so it is advisable to alternate them with other laxatives.

    By 50 and 75 g in a pack of cardboard with an inner bag of polyethylene or with an inner paper bag, or with an inner package of polypropylene together with an instruction for use.

    Prepared water extraction - in a dark cool place no more than 2 days.

    Keep out of the reach of children.
