Composition:

Buckthorn bark.

Characteristic:

The bark of the buckthorn is alder-like or the buckthorn is fragile contains the antraglycosides frangulin,glucofran-grulin, frangulaemodine, chrysofanoic acid, tannins, organic acids, essential oil, sugars, alkaloids and other biologically active substances.

Description:Mixture particles of a yellowish-brown color with brown and greenish impregnations, passing through a sieve with holes 2 mm in size. The smell is weak. The taste of water extract is bitterish.

Pharmacodynamics:

Has a laxative effect, due to the presence of antraglikozidov, causing irritation of receptors of the mucous membrane of the large intestine. The laxative effect usually occurs 8-12 hours after ingestion.

Indications:

Chronic constipation.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to the drug, constipation of the neurogenic and endocrine spastic constipation, intestinal obstruction, acute abdominal syndrome, appendicitis, enteritis, colitis, metrorrhagia, acute febrile conditions. Pregnancy, the period of breastfeeding, children under 12 years.

Dosing and Administration:

3 filter packets (6 g) are placed in a glass or enamel ware, pour 100 ml (1/2 cup) of boiling water, cover with a lid and insist for 15 minutes, periodically pressing on the bags with a spoon, then squeeze them. The volume of the infusion obtained is adjusted to 100 ml with boiled water.

Take inside 1/2 glass for the night and in the morning. The course of treatment is 2-3 weeks.

Before use, the infusion is recommended to be shaken.

Side effects:Possible allergic reactions (skin rash), a feeling of discomfort in the abdomen (flatulence, spastic pain, nausea).

Overdose:Colic pain in the abdomen, tenesmus, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea. Treatment: symptomatic

Special instructions:

With prolonged use of the drug buckthorn can develop addiction and weakening or there is no laxative effect, so it is advisable to alternate them with other laxatives.

It is possible to stain the urine yellow, not requiring withdrawal of the drug.
