Composition:

Buckthorn bark.

Characteristic

Buckthorn bark contains anthraglikosides frangulin, gyukofragulin, frangulaemodine,Chrysofanoic acid, tannins, organic acids, sugars, alkaloids and other biologically active substances.

    • Pharmacodynamics:Has a laxative effect, due to the presence of antraglikozidov, causing irritation of receptors of the mucous membrane of the large intestine. Laxative effect occurs after 8-12 hours after taking the drug.
    Indications:Chronic constipation.
    Contraindications:

    Increased individual sensitivity to the drug, constipation of neurogenic and endocrine origin, spastic constipation, intestinal obstruction, acute abdominal syndrome, appendicitis, enteritis, colitis, metrorrhagia, acute febrile conditions.

    Pregnancy, the period of breastfeeding, children under 12 years.
    Dosing and Administration:

    About 10 grams (1 tablespoon) of bark are placed in enameled pots, pour 200 ml (1 cup) of hot boiled water, cover with a lid and heat in a boiling water bath with frequent stirring for 30 minutes, cool at room temperature for 10 minutes, filter.The remaining raw material is squeezed, the volume of the resulting broth is brought to boiling water to 200 ml.

    Is taken internally in a warm form adults and children over 12 years old, 1/2 cup per night and morning.

    The course of treatment is 2-3 weeks.

    Before use, the broth is recommended to be shaken

    Side effects:

    Possible allergic reactions (skin rash), a feeling of discomfort in the abdomen (flatulence, spastic pain, nausea).

    Overdose:

    Colic pain in the abdomen, tenesmus. Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea.

    Treatment: symptomatic.

    Interaction:

    Not described.

    Special instructions:

    With prolonged use of the drug buckthorn can develop addiction and weakening or lack of laxative effect, so it is advisable to alternate them with other laxatives.

    It is possible to stain the urine yellow, not requiring withdrawal of the drug.
