Composition:

Laminaria thallus (sea kale).

Characteristic

Thallus contains high molecular polysaccharides, iodide and bromide salts, mannitol, alginic acid, alginates, ascorbic acid and other biologically active substances.

Description:

Slices of thallus of various forms from greyish-green to dark green, greenish-brown, light brown, reddish-brown, sometimes yellowish-brown, greenish-black in color. Pieces can be covered with a white touch of sea salt. The smell is specific for thalli kelp. The taste is salty.

  • Pharmacodynamics:

    The laxative effect is due to the ability of the drug to swell and, increasing in volume, cause irritation of the receptors in the intestinal mucosa. In connection with the content of iodine salts, the drug also has thyroid and hypolipidemic effects.

    Indications:

    Applied as a laxative for chronic atonic constipation (including in patients with hyperlipidemia).

    Contraindications:

    Increased individual sensitivity (including iodine), nephritis, nephrosis, hemorrhagic diathesis, furunculosis, acne, chronic pyoderma.

    Intestinal obstruction, "acute" abdominal syndrome, appendicitis and other inflammatory processes in the abdominal cavity, acute feverish conditions; children under 12 years.

    Pregnancy and lactation:

    The use of the drug during pregnancy and during breastfeeding is contraindicated (due to inadequate clinical data).

    Dosing and Administration:

    Apply to 1 / 2-1 teaspoonful 1 time a day, washing down with water. The course of treatment is 15-30 days.

    Side effects:

    With long-term use and increased sensitivity to iodine, the phenomena of iodism (including a runny nose, hives, Quincke's edema, salivation, lacrimation, acne on the skin) are possible; allergic reactions (skin itching, skin hyperemia).

    Overdose:

    To date, cases of overdose have not been documented.

    The use of the drug does not affect the performance of potentially hazardous activities requiring special attention and quick reactions (vehicle management, work with moving mechanisms).

    3 years.
