Composition:

Characteristic

The leaves contain mucous substances, bitter glycosides, saponins, tannins, essential oil, flavonoids, macro- and microelements and other biologically active substances.

Description:

Pieces of leaves of various shapes passing through a sieve with apertures measuring 7 mm. The color is greyish-green with yellowish-green, brownish-green and purple blotches. The smell is absent. The taste of water extract is slightly bitter with a sensation of mucus.

    • Pharmacodynamics:

    Infusion of leaves of mother-and-stepmother has expectorant, weak anti-inflammatory effect. Slime, organic acids and saponins contribute to the dilution of viscous discharge in the upper respiratory tract, improvement of sputum discharge. Due to the high content of mucus, the preparations of the mother-and-stepmother leaves exert an enveloping effect on the mucous membranes of the mouth, throat and larynx, protecting them from irritation.

    Indications:

    Inflammatory diseases of the upper respiratory tract (laryngitis, tracheitis, chronic bronchitis, bronchopneumonia), accompanied by a cough with hard-to-separate sputum.

    Contraindications:

    Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, pregnancy, lactation, children under 12 years.

    Dosing and Administration:

    10 g (2 tablespoons) of mother-and-stepmother leaves are placed in enamel ware, pour 200 ml (1 cup) of hot boiled water, cover with a lid and heat in a boiling water bath for 15 minutes, cool at room temperature for 45 minutes, filter through a double layer gauze, the remaining raw material is squeezed The volume of the infusion is made boiled water to 200 ml.
