Characteristic

Mother-and-stepmother leaves contain bitter glycosides, mucus, triterpene saponins, organic acids, flavonoids, polysaccharides and other biologically active compounds.

Description:Pieces of leaves of various shapes passing through a sieve with apertures measuring 7 mm. Color grayish green. The smell is absent. The taste of the water extract is slightly harsh with a sensation of mucus.

Pharmacodynamics:

Infusion of leaves of mother-and-stepmother renders expectorant, weak anti-inflammatory act. Slime (polysaccharides), organic toislets and saponins contribute to the liquefaction viscouso separated in the upper respiratory tract, improved sputum discharge. Due to the high content of mucus, mother-and-stepmother preparations have an enveloping effect on the mucous membranes of the mouth and throat, protecting them from irritation.

Indications:

Inflammatory diseases of the respiratory tract (laryngitis, tracheitis, bronchitis, bronchopneumonia), accompanied by a cough with hard-to-recover sputum.

Contraindications:Hypersensitivity to the drug, pregnancy, period breastfeeding, children under 12 years.

Dosing and Administration:

About 5 grams (1 tablespoon) of mother-and-stepmother leaves are placed in enameled pots, pour 200 ml (1 cup) of hot boiled water, cover with a lid, insist on a boiling water bath for 15 minutes, cool at room temperature for 45 minutes, filter, the remaining raw material is squeezed. The volume of the infusion obtained is adjusted to 200 ml with boiled water.

Adults and children from 12 years old take 1 / 3-1 / 2 cups 2-3 times a day for 1 hour before meals.

Before use, the infusion is recommended to be shaken.

Side effects:Allergic reactions are possible.

Overdose:Cases of overdose have not been registered to date.

Interaction:Simultaneous use with prota-cough medicines (including containing codeine, dextromethorphan) is not recommended.

Effect on the ability to drive transp. cf. and fur:The drug does not affect the ability to engage in potentially dangerous activities that require increased concentration and speed of psychomotor reactions (including the management of transportmeans, work with moving mechanisms).
