Pharmacodynamics:Anti-leishmanioa mean means.It is a compound of pentavalent antimony.
Pharmacokinetics:When parenteral administration is well distributed. Accumulates in the skin, cells of the reticuloendothelial system. In the liver, pentavalent antimony can partially be transformed into trivalent, which is more toxic. Excreted by the kidneys. Half-life - 2-30 hours with intravenous injection, up to 1 month - with intramuscular injection.
Indications:Cutaneous and visceral leishmaniasis.

Contraindications:Tuberculosis of the lungs, expressed violations of the liver and / or kidney function, severe cardiovascular diseaseof that system.

Dosing and Administration:The daily dose is 60 mg / kg. On the first day of treatment, intramuscularly injected 1/4 of this dose, in the second - half, in the third - 3/4, and starting from the fourth day - a full dose. The course of treatment - 10-15 injections (of which 8-12 full dose). If necessary, a second course of treatment is carried out after 4-6 weeks. With a repeated course, an increase in the daily dose to 100 mg / kg is possible. With cutaneous leishmaniasis, local application is possible.
Side effects:

Increased body temperature, cough, myalgia, vomiting, pain in the heart, heart rhythm disturbances.

In the treatment of cutaneous leishmaniasis, local reactions and pain at the site of administration are possible.

Increased activity of serum transaminases, amylases.

Overdose:Polyneuritis, myocarditis, violations of the liver, kidneys.
Interaction:Not described.
Special instructions:

To avoid the risk of intolerance, the dose should be increased gradually.

During the course of treatment should monitor the ECG, the concentration of creatinine in the blood and the protein content in the urine.
