Combination drug for external use. Has a local anesthetic effect.
Menthol, when applied to the skin and mucous membranes, irritates the nerve endings, expands the surface vessels of the skin, causing a feeling of coolness accompanied by an analgesic effect, and thereby enhances the anesthetic effect of novocaine (procaine hydrochloride) and anestezine (benzocaine); relieves itching.
Novocain (procaine hydrochloride) is a local anesthetic with moderate anesthetic activity. Being a weak base, it blocks Na + channels, prevents generation of pulses in the endings of the sensory nerves, and impulses along nerve fibers. Changes the action potential in the membranes of nerve cells without a pronounced effect on the resting potential. Suppresses carrying out not only pain, but also impulses of another modality.
Anestezin (bespzokain) is a local anesthetic for superficial anesthesia. Reduces the permeability of the cell membrane for Na +, displaces Ca2 + from receptors located on the inner surface of the membrane, blocks the conduction of nerve impulses. Prevents the appearance of painful impulses in the endings of the sensory nerves and their conduction but nerve fibers.
