Orthosiphon stamen (kidney tea) leaves contain glycoside orthosiphonin, triterpene saponins, tannins, potassium salts, essential oil, organic acids and other biologically active substances.

Description:

Pieces of leaves and stems of various shapes passing through a sieve with holes 2 mm in size. The color is green, greyish-green with purple-brown, greenish-brown and brown impregnations. The smell is weak. The taste of water extract is slightly bitter, slightly astringent.

Pharmacodynamics:

Infusion of leaves of kidney tea has a moderate diuretic and antispasmodic effect. It also has choleretic properties, increases the secretory activity of the gastric mucosa.

Diuretic effect is accompanied by excretion of urine chloride, urea and uric acid.

Indications:

In the complex therapy for edema, resulting from a violation of kidney function, chronic heart failure.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to the drug, children under 12 years.

Dosing and Administration:

About 3 g (1 tablespoon) of leaves are placed in enameled pots, pour 200 ml (1 cup) of hot boiled water, cover with a lid and insist on a boiling water bath for 15 minutes, cool at room temperature for 45 minutes, filter, the remaining raw material is squeezed . The volume of the infusion obtained is adjusted to 200 ml with boiled water.
