Pharmacotherapeutic group:antispasmodic
ATX: & nbsp
  • Papaverine and its derivatives
  • Pharmacodynamics:

Combined drug, has antispasmodic, hypotensive, arteriodilating effect.

Bendazole is an antispasmodic agent of myotropic action; has antihypertensive, vasodilating effect, stimulates the function of the spinal cord, has moderate immunostimulating activity.

Papaverine is an antispasmodic agent that has an antihypertensive effect. Inhibits phosphodiesterase, causes accumulation in the cell of cyclic adenosine monophosphate and a decrease in the content of calcium ions, reduces tone and relaxes the smooth muscles of the internal organs (gastrointestinal tract, respiratory and genitourinary system) and vessels. It causes an enlargement of the arteries, promotes an increase in blood flow, including cerebral blood flow.In large doses reduces the excitability of the heart muscle and slows intracardiac conduction.

    Indications:

Arterial hypertension (labile); spasm of the peripheral arteries and vessels of the brain; spasm of smooth muscles of internal organs (including peptic ulcer of stomach and duodenum, spasm of pylorus, intestinal colic, cholecystitis, spastic colitis); poliomyelitis (residual events); peripheral paralysis of the facial nerve.

    Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, violations of atrioventricular conduction, convulsive syndrome, respiratory depression, epileptic syndrome, bronchoobstructive syndrome, children's age.

    Carefully:

Decreased intestinal peristalsis, craniocerebral trauma, hepatic and / or renal insufficiency, hypothyroidism, insufficiency of adrenal function, prostatic hypertrophy; pregnancy, lactation. With caution and in small doses, the drug should be prescribed to the elderly and the weakened patient.

    Pregnancy and lactation:

In pregnancy and lactation, the safety of the drug is not established.

Therefore, the use of the drug during pregnancy is possible only if the intended benefit to the mother exceeds the potential risk to the fetus.

    Dosing and Administration:

    Inside, adults - 1 tablet 2-3 times a day.

The drug can be used in short or long courses depending on the disease. At intestinal colic and spasms of the pylorus the course of treatment is short - 1-2 days, as part of complex therapy of residual phenomena of the transferred poliomyelitis or at paralysis of the facial nerve - prolonged, from several weeks to several months.

    Side effects:

Allergic reactions, nausea, constipation, increased sweating, dizziness, development of atrioventricular blockade, arrhythmias, decreased myocardial contractility.

    Overdose:

Symptoms of Papal overdose are a combination of symptoms of an overdose of papaverine and bendazole.

Symptoms of overdose with papaverine: diplopia, weakness, drowsiness, inhibition.

Symptoms of an overdose of bendazole: arterial hypotension, decreased perfusion of tissues, arrhythmia, headache, weakness.

    Treatment: gastric lavage, Activated carbon.

    Interaction:

When applied simultaneously with Papazol antispasmodics, sedatives, diuretics, tricyclic antidepressants, novokainamidom, reserpine, quinidine possibly increased hypotensive effect.

Papazol weakens the effect of anticholinesterase drugs (galantamine, proserin, physiostigmine, etc.) on smooth muscles.

Adsorbents, astringents and enveloping agents reduce the absorption of the drug in the gastrointestinal tract.
