Pharmacodynamics:

Polyene antifungal antibiotic.It has a high tropicity to the styrene structures of the fungal membrane, binding them, causing uncontrolled permeability, which leads to cell lysis.

Active with respect to Candida albicans and protozoa: leishmania, amoeba, Trichomonas.

Pharmacokinetics:

It is not absorbed from the skin during external application, as well as in the gastrointestinal tract. After ingestion, it is excreted with feces.

Indications:

It is used internally for the treatment of candidiasis of the gastrointestinal tract and with candidiasis. Locally - with candidiasis of genital organs. External - for the treatment of paronychias, lesions of the folds of the skin, interdigital erosion.

Contraindications:
  • Renal and hepatic insufficiency.
  • Stomach ulcer and duodenal ulcer.
  • Pancreatitis.
  • Individual intolerance.
Carefully:

Children under 2 years.

Pregnancy and lactation:

Recommendations for FDA - category is not defined. During pregnancy and during lactation it is contraindicated.

Dosing and Administration:

Inside for 500 thousand units 2-4 times a day for 10-12 days.

With candidiasis of female genital organs, 500,000 ED twice a day is intravaginal.

When candidiasis affects the oral mucosa, resorb the buccal tablet (500 thousand units) for 10-15 minutes 2-4 times a day. The course of treatment is 7-14 days.

The highest daily dose: 2 million units.

The highest single dose: 500 thousand units.

Side effects:

Local irritating effect, headache, nausea, vomiting.

Allergic reactions.

Overdose:

Cases of overdose are not described.

Interaction:

Has an antagonistic effect when combined with antifungal agents - derivatives of azoles, exhibits synergism with respect to flucytosine.

Special instructions:

With superficial mycoses, combined methods of application are used to improve efficacy: externally and internally.
