    Pharmacodynamics:

    The drug belongs to the synthetic antimicrobial drugs of the group of nitrofurans. Has antiprotozoal, antibacterial and antifungal action. Being an acceptor of oxygen, nifuratel violates the process of cellular respiration of bacteria, inhibits the biosynthesis of nucleic acids.

    Has a cytostatic effect on a number of microorganisms, namely: Enterococcus faecalis, Enterococcus faecium, Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis, Escherichia coli, Shigella flexneri, Shigella sonnei, Salmonella typhi, Salmonella typhimurium, Salmonella enterica, Klebsiella spp., Enterobacter spp., Serratia spp., Citrobacter spp., Morganella spp., Rettgerella spp., Pragia fontium, Budvicia aquatica, Rachnella aquatilis, Acinetobacter spp., Proteus mirabilis, Proteus vulgaris, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Lactobacillus acidophilus, fungi of the genus Candida, Trichomonas vaginalis.

    It is the drug of choice for the therapy of salmonellosis, shigellosis and other intestinal bacterial infections.

    Especially effective against strains Helicobacter pylori, resistant to metronidazole.

    Pharmacokinetics:

    Fast and fully absorbed of gastrointestinal-intestinal tract, permeates across the blood-brain barrier, the placental barrier, is excreted in breast milk. Metabolised in the liver and muscles. Excreted by the kidneys, 30-50% is excreted unchanged.

    Indications:

    Infectious-inflammatory diseases that are caused by microorganisms that are sensitive to the drug: urinary tract infections (including pyelonephritis, pyelitis, cystitis, urethritis), vulvovaginal infections (including Trichomonas, fungi of the genus Candida, bacteria), intestinal amoebiasis, chronic inflammatory diseases of the upper gastrointestinal tract (associated with Helicobacter pylori), giardiasis.

    Pregnancy and lactation:

    Category FDA - C. The use in pregnancy is possible only on strict indications, when the prospective benefit for the mother exceeds the potential risk to the fetus, since nifuratel penetrates the placental barrier.

    If it is necessary to use the drug during lactation, the question of stopping breastfeeding should be solved, since nifuratel excreted in breast milk.

    Dosing and Administration:

    Inside.

    Vaginal infections:

    Adults: 1 tablet 3 times a day after meals for 7 days (both partners should take the drug).

    Children: The recommended dose is 10 mg / kg of body weight daily for 10 days.

    Urinary tract infections:

    Adults: Depending on the severity of the disease, 3-6 tablets daily after meals for 7-14 days.

    Children: the recommended dose is 30-60 mg / kg body weight. The recommended dose should be taken in two divided doses.

    Intestinal amebiasis:

    Adults: 2 tablets 2-3 times a day for 10 days.

    Children: the recommended dose is 10 mg / kg body weight 3 times a day.

    Giardiasis:

    Adults: 2 tablets 2-3 times a day for 7 days.

    Children: the recommended dose is 15 mg / kg body weight 2 times a day for 7 days.

    Gastrointestinal infections associated with Helicobacter pylori:

    Adults: 2 tablets 2-3 times a day for 7 days.

    Children: the recommended dose is 15 mg / kg body weight 2 times a day for 7 days.

    A single dose of adults is 200-400 mg, children - 10-30 mg / kg. The daily dose (taken in several receptions) for adults - 600-1200 mg, for children - 10-30 mg / kg in day. The duration of treatment is determined individually by the attending physician.

    Side effects:

    Dyspeptic phenomena: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, bitterness in the mouth, gastralgia, heartburn, itching, skin rash.

    Overdose:

    Not described, treatment is symptomatic.

    Interaction:

    The drug strengthens the antifungal action of nystatin.

    Special instructions:

    Impact on the ability to drive vehicles and manage mechanisms

    No negative effects were detected.

    In the treatment of vaginal infections, concomitantly with the administration of nifuratel, local therapy is administered internally.

    During the treatment period, you should refrain from having sexual intercourse.
