Pharmacodynamics:

Pharmacological action - metabolic, neuroprotective, antialcoholic, antiabstinent.

It is a regulator of tissue metabolism, increases mental performance, has a curative effect in the alcohol withdrawal state, reduces the craving for alcohol.

L-threonine in the presence of pyridoxine (vitamin B6) decomposes to form the amino acid glycine and acetaldehyde, which stimulates inhibition processes and simultaneously oxidation-reduction reactions, respiration and ATP synthesis in cells, due to which the drug is capable of:

  • to reduce psychoemotional stress;
  • improve short and long term memory;
  • increase mental performance;
  • normalize the level of endogenous acetaldehyde and thereby reduce the manifestations of alcohol withdrawal syndrome and craving for alcohol.

The effect manifests itself 10-20 min after sublingual administration.

Pharmacokinetics:L-threonine and vitamin B6 are completely metabolized to the final products. Cumulation of them in the body does not occur.
Indications:

Reduction of mental efficiency and concentration in adults, adolescents and children.

Alcohol abuse and chronic alcoholism; with pathological attraction to alcohol, accompanied by affective (irritability, decreased mood, internal discomfort), sensory (hunger) and ideator (thoughts of alcohol) disorders.

Alcohol abstinence syndrome, to maintain remissions with alcoholism.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to vitamin B6; the state of alcohol intoxication; simultaneous reception of anxiolytics, neuroleptics, antidepressants.

Pregnancy and lactation:Special studies have not been conducted. It is not recommended to use during pregnancy and lactation. With alcohol and alcohol abuse, the drug can be used during pregnancy and during breastfeeding.
Dosing and Administration:

The drug is given in tablets under the tongue or in the form of a powder after grinding the tablet; as a means of increasing attention, mental performance: children, adolescents and adults 1 tablet 2-3 times a day for 3-10 days. If necessary, the course is repeated 3-4 times or more per year.

Patients with chronic alcoholism and abusing alcohol appoint 1-3 tablets per reception 2-3 times a day for 4-5 days. If necessary, the courses are repeated 5-10 times a year.

In the treatment of alcohol withdrawal symptoms, 1-4 tablets are prescribed 3-4 times a day (daily dose 3-16 tablets) on the first day, on the second day and then 1-2 tablets 2-3 times a day (daily dose 3 -6 tablets) for 21-28days. The duration of the course can be shortened to 10-14 days.

The greatest effect is achieved when combined with the drug glycine (tablet 0.1 g). Glycine take under the tongue 10-15 minutes before taking the combination pyridoxine + threonine. In the period of remission, 2-3 tablets of the drug on an empty stomach are taken to reveal the latent desire for alcohol. The appearance within 10-20 minutes of light dizziness, soothing effect, red face, sweating indicates the presence of "hidden traction". In these cases, a 5-10-day course of the drug is recommended for 1-2 tablets 2-3 times daily with glycine.

Side effects:

Dizziness, increased sweating, allergic reactions with intolerance of vitamin B6.

Overdose:

Not detected.

Interaction:

Incompatible with antipsychotic drugs, antidepressants, anxiolytics, barbiturates.

Weaken the effect of other drugs that depress the central nervous system.
Special instructions:

It is not recommended to use in a state of intoxication, as the therapeutic effect of the drug decreases.
