Pharmacodynamics:

The stereoisomer of mannitol has an osmotic, laxative, detoxifying, sweetening, choleretic effect. In patients without violations of carbohydrate metabolism does not increase the level of glycemia. When ingested, it has a laxative and choleretic effect. With intravenous use increases diuresis.

Pharmacokinetics:

After oral ingestion, up to 90% is absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract and utilized in the liver in the form of glycogen. About 5% of the brain tissue, myocardium and skeletal muscle are deposited.

Indications:

It is used to treat hypovolemia, constipation, with any kind of shock, diseases of the gastrointestinal tract.

Pregnancy and lactation:

Recommendations for FDA - Category B. It is used during pregnancy and lactation.

Dosing and Administration:

Intravenously drip 20% solution of 10 ml / kg of weight: at a rate of 10-60 drops / min / kg.

Inside as a laxative: 30-40 g.

The highest daily dose: 200 ml / day - intravenously, inside - 40 g.

The highest single dose: 40 g.

Side effects:

Allergic reactions.

Overdose:

When ingested more than 40 g - Diarrhea, flatulence.

Interaction:

Clinically significant interactions are not described.

Special instructions:

It is not recommended to mix the preparation with phosphate and carbonate-containing solutions, as well as the use of sorbitol as a carrier solution for other drugs.
