  • АТХ:

    D.10.A.E.01   Benzoyl peroxide

    Pharmacodynamics:

Reduces the amount of fatty acids and lipids on the skin surface. Has keratolytic and antibacterial action (in relation to Propionibacterium acnes). Has a moderate desquamative effect, reducing the appearance of acne and comedones.

    Pharmacokinetics:

At local application the preparation is absorbed weakly and practically does not render resorptive action.

    Indications:

It is used for the treatment of acne and comedones.

    XII.L60-L75.L70   Acne

    XII.L60-L75.L71   Rosacea

Contraindications:Individual intolerance, children under 12 years.
    Carefully:

    Hypersensitivity.

    Pregnancy and lactation:

Recommendations for FDA - Category C. It is used with caution during pregnancy and lactation in cases where the intended benefit exceeds the risk to the fetus and newborn.

    Dosing and Administration:

The drug is applied to dry clean skin once a day before bedtime. The gel is applied pointwise to comedones - an increase in the thickness of the drug does not enhance the clinical effect.

    Side effects:

Hyperemia, itching, dry skin, hair discoloration, allergic reactions.

    Overdose:

Cases of overdose are not described.

    Treatment is symptomatic.

    Interaction:

    Not described.

    Special instructions:

In the treatment it is recommended to avoid applying to the mucous membranes (lips and conjunctiva). Benzoyl peroxide stimulates the mitosis of epidermal cells, which leads to hyperkeratosis and acanthosis; redness and flaky skin causes a period of apparent worsening during the first weeks of treatment.
