The leaves of the plantain contain mucus, bitter substances, tannins, polysaccharides, carotene, vitamins K, C, flavonoids, macro- and microelements and other biologically active substances.
Description:

Pieces of leaves of various shapes passing through a sieve with apertures measuring 7 mm. The color is green or brownish green.

The smell is weak. The taste of water extract is slightly bitter.

  • Pharmacodynamics:

    Infusion of plantain leaves strengthens the secretion of bronchial glands, has mucolytic, anti-inflammatory effect, stimulates the secretion of gastric juice, increases its acidity.

    Indications:

    Applied as an expectorant for diseases of the upper respiratory tract (bronchitis, tracheitis, etc.).

    Contraindications:

    Hypersensitivity to plantain large.

    Hyper secretion of gastric juice, peptic ulcer of stomach and duodenum during exacerbation.

    Pregnancy and lactation:

    Application during pregnancy and lactation is possible,if the expected benefit for the mother exceeds the potential risk to the fetus and the baby. It is necessary to consult a doctor.

    Dosing and Administration:

    10 g (2 tablespoons) of crushed leaves are placed in enameled pots, poured into 200 ml (1 glass) of hot boiled water, covered with a lid and heated in a boiling water bath for 15 minutes, cooled at room temperature for 45 minutes, filtered, the remaining raw material squeezed. The volume of the infusion obtained is adjusted to 200 ml with boiled water.

    Take the infusion inside the 1/2 cup (100 ml) 2-3 times a day 30 minutes after eating for 7-10 days.

    Before use, the infusion is recommended to be shaken.

    Side effects:

    Allergic reactions are possible, in rare cases - heartburn.

    Overdose:

    Cases of overdose have not been registered to date.
