Sage leaves contain essential oils, tannins, alkaloids and other biologically active substances.
Description:

Pieces of leaves of various shapes from 1 to 35 mm with a small number of other parts of the plant (pieces of stems, flowers with pedicels and without them) passing through a sieve with holes of 7 mm. The color is greyish-green, greenish-gray, or silvery-white with greenish-brown, light-brown, yellowish-white, white, reddish-violet and rare brown patches. The scent is fragrant. The taste of the water extract is bitterish-spicy, slightly astringent.

  • Pharmacodynamics:

    The infusion of sage leaves has an antimicrobial, local anti-inflammatory and astringent effect.

    Indications:

    In the complex therapy of inflammatory diseases of the oral cavity (stomatitis, gingivitis), pharynx and larynx (angina, pharyngitis).

    Contraindications:

    Hypersensitivity to the drug; children under 12 years.

    Carefully:

    Pregnancy, the period of breastfeeding.

    Dosing and Administration:

    About 10 g (2 tablespoons) of raw materials are placed in enameled dishes, pour 200 ml (1 glass) of hot boiled water, cover with a lid and heat on boiling water bath for 15 minutes, cool at room temperature for 45 minutes, filter, the remaining raw material is squeezed. The volume of the infusion obtained is adjusted to 200 ml with boiled water.

    Apply topically to rinse in adults and children over 12 years of age by 1/2-1 glass is infused 3-5 times a day in a warm form.

    Before use, the infusion is recommended to be shaken.

    Side effects:

    Allergic reactions are possible.

    Overdose:

    Cases of overdose have not been registered to date.

    The drug does not affect the ability to engage in potentially dangerous activities that require increased concentration of attention and speed of psychomotor reactions (including driving, working with moving mechanisms).
