Sage leaves contain flavonoids, alkaloids, tannins and resinous substances,organic acids, phytoncides, a significant amount of essential oil and other biologically active substances.
Description:

A mixture of pieces of leaves of various shapes with a small number of other parts of the plant (pieces of stems, fruits, flowers with pedicels and without them) passing through a sieve with apertures measuring 7 mm. The color is greyish-green with silvery-white, greenish-brown, light-brown, yellowish-white, blue-violet and rare brown patches. The scent is fragrant. The taste of the water extract is bitterish-spicy, slightly astringent.

  • Pharmacodynamics:

    The sage infusion has an antimicrobial, local anti-inflammatory and astringent effect.

    Indications:

    Inflammatory diseases of the oral cavity (stomatitis, gingivitis), pharynx and larynx (sore throat, pharyngitis).

    Contraindications:

    Hypersensitivity to the drug; children under 12 years.

    Carefully:

    Pregnancy, the period of breastfeeding.

    Dosing and Administration:

    About 10 g (3 tablespoons) of leaves are placed in enameled dishes, pour 200 ml (1 glass) of boiling water,cover with a lid and insist on a boiling water bath for 15 minutes, cool at room temperature for 45 minutes, filter, the remaining raw material is squeezed. The volume of the infusion obtained is adjusted to 200 ml with boiled water.

    Apply topically to rinse in adults and children over 12 years of age 1 / 2-1 glass of infusion 3-5 times a day in a warm form.

    Before use, the infusion is recommended to be shaken.

    Side effects:

    Allergic reactions are possible.

    Overdose:

    If used correctly (topically), an overdose is unlikely. When ingestion in high doses (more than 15 grams of dried leaves) - tachycardia, tinnitus, vomiting, convulsions.
