Composition:

Licorice roots

Description:

A mixture of slices of roots of an undetermined form of grayish-yellow color with brownish patches.The smell is weak, peculiar. The taste of the water extract is sugary and sweet, slightly irritating.

    • Pharmacodynamics:

    Decoction of licorice roots exerts expectorant, anti-inflammatory action.

    Indications:

    In the complex therapy of infectious-inflammatory diseases of the respiratory tract (mainly in the presence of poorly separated, thick and viscous secretions); hyperacid gastritis, peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum (as part of complex therapy).

    Contraindications:

    Hypersensitivity to licorice preparations, pregnancy, lactation period, bronchial asthma; gastritis, peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum in the period of exacerbation; children under 1 year.

    Dosing and Administration:

    1 filter bag is placed in a glass or enamelware, pour 200 ml (1 glass) of boiling water, cover and insist at room temperature for 30 minutes. The filter package is squeezed, the volume of the resulting broth is brought to boiling water to 200 ml.

    Adults and children over 12 years are prescribed inside by 1/2 cup of broth 4 times a day; children from 1 year to 3 years - 1 dessert spoon 3-4 times a day, 3 to 5 years - 1 -2 tablespoons 3-4 times a day, from 5 to 12 years - 2-3 tablespoons 3-4 times a day. The course of treatment is 2-3 weeks. It is recommended to stir up the broth before use.

    Side effects:

    Allergic reactions are possible. With prolonged use with excess of the indicated dosages, it is possible to increase arterial pressure, hypokalemia, the appearance of peripheral edema due to water-salt metabolism.
