    • Pharmacodynamics:
    The active substance of the preparation Stellanin® is 1,3-diethylbenzimidazolium triiodide. The mechanism of pharmacological activity of the drug is the bactericidal properties of its active iodine. As a result, formation of a strong complex with 1,3-diethylbenzimidazole, and further with polyvinyl pyrrolidone yl gradual release of iodine from Stellanina® molecule. Upon contact with bacterial wall proteins and enzyme proteins of microorganisms, the released active iodine forms iodine, and, thus denaturing protein molecules, has a bactericidal effect.
    The drug has a broad spectrum of antibacterial activity.
    Stellanin® is sensitive to bacteria Staphylococcus aureus, Clostridium dificille, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Streptococcus viridans, Streptococcus haemolyticus, Proteus mirabilis, Escherichia coli, Neisseria spp .; mushrooms Candida albicans and some other pathogens.
    Pharmacokinetics:When administered orally, the time to reach the maximum concentration of iodine in the plasma is on average 2.05 ± 0.55 hours. The maximum concentration (CJ iodide in blood plasma averages 2.80 ± 0.51 μg / ml, half life (T1 / 2) and the average retention time in the body is 4.42 ± 0.93 and 5.07 ± 0.19 hours.
    Indications:Chronic tonsillitis, pharyngitis in the stage of exacerbation.
    Contraindications:Hypersensitivity to the drug components, hyperthyroidism and other dysfunction of the thyroid gland, acute renal failure, simultaneous therapy with radioactive iodine, pregnancy and lactation, children under 18 years.
    Carefully:Chronic renal failure.
    Pregnancy and lactation:The use of the drug during pregnancy and lactation is contraindicated.
    Dosing and Administration:
    Strictly on an empty stomach, no less than 30 minutes before eating.
    1 ml (50 drops containing 40 m grams of 1,3-diethyl benzimidazole triiodide) of the drug, diluted in 50 ml (1/4 cup) of boiled water at room temperature in a glass bowl 2-3 times a day inside.Before ingestion, the throat should be rinsed with a solution of the drug. The maximum daily dose of 3 ml (120 mg of 1,3-diethylbenzimidazolium triiodide). The course of treatment is 5-10 days.
    Side effects:Allergic reactions, eosinophilia, tachycardia, nervousness, insomnia
    Overdose:
    Symptoms of overdose (iodism): staining the mucous membrane of the mouth in brown, rhinitis, bronchitis, gastroenteritis, edema of the vocal cords, bleeding from the urinary tract, anuria, collapse.
    Treatment of overdose: gastric lavage with starch solution (up to
    disappearance of the blue color of the solution) and 1% solution of sodium thiosulfate, the reception of cereal from flour, corn, potato, rice or oat thick broth, symptomatic therapy

    Interaction:Stellanin® is not recommended to be taken concomitantly with other medications. The time interval between taking Stellanin® and other drugs should be at least 30 minutes.
    Special instructions:Avoid contact with eyes. If the product gets into the eyes, rinse with warm water.
    Form release / dosage:Drops for topical administration and oral administration 40 mg / ml.
