Pharmacodynamics:The derivative of nitro-5-imidazole, possesses trichomonadocidal and fungistatic action. It recovers 5-nitro group due to transport proteins of anaerobic bacteria and protozoan microorganisms. The restored 5-nitro group of tenonitrosol inhibits the synthesis of nucleic acids of DNA from microorganism cells, which leads to their death.
Active at respect Trichomonas vaginalis and Candida albicans.
Pharmacokinetics:After oral administration, it is completely absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract. The maximum concentration in the blood plasma is achieved in 2-3 hours. The connection with plasma proteins is 20%.
The therapeutic effect develops 1-3 hours after the beginning of the admission. Metabolism in the liver.
The half-life is 5-6 hours. Elimination by the kidneys. Removed during hemodialysis.
Indications:It is used to treat infectious and inflammatory diseases of the urogenital system: trichomoniasis, candidiasis.

Contraindications:Acute and chronic hepatic insufficiency, individual intolerance, children under 18 years of age.

Dosing and Administration:Inside at meal time, 250 mg in the morning and in the evening for 4 days.
The highest daily dose: 500 mg.

Strengthens the effect of indirect coagulants.
Incompatible with nondepolarizing muscle relaxants (vecuronium bromide).
With simultaneous application accelerate elimination and reduce the concentration of tenonitrosol in blood plasma drugs that stimulate enzymes of microsomal oxidation in the liver (phenytoin, phenobarbital).
Enhances the toxic effects of lithium preparations.
With simultaneous use with cimetidine, the concentration of tenonitrosol in the blood serum increases, which leads to an increase in side effects.
Special instructions:When treating Trichomonas and Candida colpitis, women need treatment for sexual partners and abstinence from sexual activity for the period of taking the drug.
