Characteristic
Cumin fruits contain fatty oil, proteins, flavonoids (quercetin), tannins, essential oil.
Description:

The fruit is a fruit-tree, consisting of two half-fruits (merikarpies), more often broken up. Merikarpii of oblong form, often more or less sickle-curved, compressed laterally, slightly narrowed to apex, with superimular disc and rest of column. The external side of the mericarp is convex, the inner side is flat. Each merikarp has five protruding longitudinal ribs: three of them are on the convex side, two on the sides. In merikarpii one seed, fused with the pericarp. The length of the fruit is 3-7 mm, width 1-1.5 mm.

The color of the fruit is dark brown with thin light strips on the ribs. The smell is strong, fragrant. The taste of the water extract is burning, bitter, spicy.

  • Pharmacodynamics:

    Infusion of cumin fruit has spasmolytic, secretion-enhancing digestive glands, carminative and expectorant action, and also contributes to the production of milk from nursing mothers.

    Indications:

    In the complex therapy: pain in the intestines of a spastic nature, flatulence, constipation.

    Contraindications:

    Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, pregnancy.

    Carefully:Arterial hypotension.
    Pregnancy and lactation:

    Application in the period of breastfeeding is possible if the expected benefit for the mother exceeds the potential risk for the child. It is necessary to consult a doctor.

    Dosing and Administration:

    About 10 grams (1 tablespoon) of fruit are placed in enameled dishes, pour 200 ml (1 cup) of boiling water, cover with a lid and heat on a boiling water bath 15 minutes, then cool at room temperature for 45 minutes, filter, the remaining raw material is squeezed. The volume of the infusion obtained is adjusted to 200 ml with boiled water.

    Infusion takes inwards in a warm form 3-4 times a day after a meal: adults and children over 12 years old - 1/3 cup; children from 7 to 12 years - 1-2 tablespoons; children from 3 to 6 years - 1 tablespoon; children up to 3 years - 1 / 2-1 teaspoon.

    Before use, the infusion is recommended to be shaken.

    Side effects:

    Allergic reactions are possible.

    Overdose:

    Cases of overdose have not been registered to date.

    The use of the drug does not affect the performance of potentially hazardous activities requiring an increased concentration of attention and speed of psychomotor reactions (vehicle management, work with moving mechanisms).
