In the course of preparation of responses to numerous citizens' appeals regarding the correctness of the indication of the international, grouping or chemical name of the active substance fonetracetam, we report the following.
In accordance with the Federal Law of the Russian Federation of April 12, 2010 N 61-FZ "On the circulation of medicinal products", an international non-proprietary name recommended by the World Health Organization should be used to designate the active ingredient in the instructions for use.
In a number of instructions on the medical use of preparations of fonotracetam, the international non-proprietary name is missing and only the chemicalthe name of the active substance, which can be misleading, both consumers and physicians regarding their differences.
FGBU "NTSESMP" of the Ministry of Health of Russia recommends that the international nonproprietary name should be indicated in the instructions for the use of these drugs - fonetracetam.
