    Pharmacodynamics:

    In the rhizomes and roots of valerian contains essential oil with the main component - bornesteral ester with isovaleric acid, and free valerian acid, which has an antispasmodic effect.

    The drug reduces the excitability of the central nervous system, has an antispasmodic effect. Mediately, through neuroregulatory mechanisms, regulates heart activity and has a direct effect on automatism and the conduction system of the heart. Has a moderate choleretic effect.

    Indications:

    It is used to treat neurasthenia, sleep disorders associated with overexcitation, migraines. Used in combination therapy for mild functional disorders of the cardiovascular and digestive system, as well as the threat of termination of pregnancy.

    Dosing and Administration:

    Valerian infusion: 2 g on 100 ml, on 1 teaspoon 3-4 times a day, from 12 years - on 1 dessert spoon.

    Adults

    Tincture on 70% alcohol: 20-30 drops 3-4 times a day.

    Infusion and decoction: 1-2 tablespoons 3-4 times a day.

    Tablets: 0.02-0.04 (1-2 tablets) 3 times a day.

    Liquid concentrate is used for medicinal baths.

    Side effects:

    Rarely: drowsiness, dizziness. With prolonged use - constipation.

    Allergic reactions.

    Overdose:

    Cases of overdose are not described.

    Treatment is symptomatic.

    Interaction:

    Strengthens the effect of antispasmodics and sedatives.
