Composition:

Levomenthol solution in menthyl isovalerate (validol) - 60 mg

Description:

Tablets of white color. Presence of a yellowish shade and greyish inclusions is allowed. Tablets with a characteristic smell of menthol, a flat-cylindrical shape with a facet and a risk.

  • Pharmacodynamics:

    Has a sedative effect, has a moderate reflex vasodilator effect, due to irritation, sensitive nerve endings. Stimulates the production and release of enkephalins, endorphins and a number of other peptides, histamine, kinin (due to irritation of the receptors of the oral mucosa), which take an active part in the regulation of vascular permeability, the formation of pain. When taken under the tongue, the therapeutic effect on average comes in 5 minutes, while up to 70% of the drug is released within 3 minutes.

    Pharmacokinetics:

    When applied under the tongue it is absorbed from the oral mucosa, metabolized in the liver, excreted by the kidneys in the form of glucuronides.

    Indications:

    Functional cardialgia, neuroses, and also as an antiemetic with sea and air sickness.

    Contraindications:

    Hypersensitivity to the drug components, sugar / isomaltase deficiency, fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption, age under 18 years (no safety and efficacy data for children).

    Carefully:

    It should be prescribed with caution to a patient with diabetes mellitus (the drug contains sugar).

    Pregnancy and lactation:

    Special studies on the use of pregnant women have not been conducted. Data on the negative effect of the drug in pregnant women are absent.

    Dosing and Administration:

    Regardless of food intake. Validol is prescribed under the tongue. The tablet should be kept under the tongue until completely dissolved. Take 1 tablet 2-3 times a day. The daily frequency and duration of Validol intake is determined depending on the effectiveness of treatment. With insufficiently pronounced effect or when in individual patients in the next 5 minutes after takingdrug effect is not observed, you need to see a doctor for another therapy.

    Side effects:

    Light nausea, lacrimation, dizziness.

    Overdose:

    With prolonged admission, the above side effects may be observed. With the withdrawal of the drug, these phenomena usually pass on their own.

    Interaction:

    When combined with neurotropic drugs, the oppressive type of action enhances the effect of the latter on the central nervous system, promotes the onset of sleep and its deeper course. The simultaneous use of Validol with nitrates reduces the headache that occurs when they are used.

    Special instructions:

    When appointing Validol, a patient with diabetes should take into account that 1 tablet contains 0.115 bread units.

    Effect on the ability to drive transp. cf. and fur:

    The drug may cause dizziness, so care must be taken.

    Form release / dosage:

    Tablets are sublingual for 60 mg.
