    Pharmacodynamics:

    Sertaconazole is an antifungal agent, an imidazole derivative and a benzothiophene. It has fungistatic and fungicidal action in therapeutic doses. It is active against fungi of the genus Candida. The mechanism of action of sertaconazole is to inhibit the synthesis of ergosterol and increase the permeability of the cell membrane of fungi, which leads to lysis of the fungal cell.

    It also has antibacterial activity against gram-positive bacteria (staphylo- and streptococci).

    Pharmacokinetics:
    Absorption after intravaginal application is absent.
    Indications:

    Local treatment of infections of the vaginal mucosa caused by fungi of the genus Candida (candidiasis vulvovaginitis).

    Contraindications:
    Hypersensitivity to derivatives of imidazole, benzothiophene and other components of the drug.
    Pregnancy and lactation:

    Sufficient data on the use of sertaconazole during pregnancy and during lactation there. However, taking into account the method of application of the drug (single administration), as well as the absence of systemic absorption of the drug after intravaginal administration, the use of sertaconazole during pregnancy and during lactation is possible if the potential benefit to the mother exceeds the possible risk to the fetus or child .

    Dosing and Administration:

    Intravaginal, once.

    Before using the drug, it is necessary to wash the external genitalia using neutral or alkaline soap.

    One vaginal suppository is injected deep into the vagina, lying on the back, before going to bed.

    If the clinical symptoms persist, it is possible to re-administer the suppository after 7 days.

    Use the drug only according to the method of administration and the doses specified in the instructions.

    Side effects:

    Rarely: sensation of burning, itching in the vagina, which pass on their own during treatment and do not require drug withdrawal. These side effects are classic for topical preparations and reflect the effectiveness of the drug. Allergic reactions are possible.

    Overdose:

    Not installed.

    If you accidentally take the drug inside, you must rinse the stomach and immediately consult a doctor.

    Interaction:
    Simultaneous use of the drug with local contraceptives may lead to a weakening of the spermicidal effect of the latter.
    Special instructions:

    With a simultaneous infection of the labia and adjacent areas (candidiasis vulvitis), you should additionally undergo local treatment with ZALAIN cream.

    When using the drug is recommended to abstain from sexual intercourse.

    To prevent urogenital reinfection, it is recommended to consider the simultaneous treatment of the sexual partner.

    The risk of rupture of the condom or diaphragm increases with their simultaneous use with the drug ..

    Treatment can be done during menstruation.

    Effect on the ability to drive transp. cf. and fur:Zalain does not affect the performance of potentially hazardous activities requiring special attention and quick reactions (driving, etc.).

    Vaginal suppository 300 mg.
