    S.01.G.A.51   Naphazoline in combination with other drugs

    Pharmacodynamics:

    The drug is combined.

    Antazolin blocks H1-gistaminovye receptors, has anti-allergic, M-holinoblokiruyuschee, sedative effect.

    Nafazolin - alpha-adrenomimetic, narrows the venous vessels of the mucous membranes of the eye and nose: puffiness, exudation, hyperemia decreases.

    Pharmacokinetics:

    Therapeutic effect is noted after 5 minutes after application. The drug lasts for 6-8 hours.

    The half-life is 1-4 hours. After absorption, the drug binds to plasma proteins in 99%, is metabolized in the liver.

    Clearance: 5.5-7.9 ml / kg per minute, decreased in newborns, increased in elderly people. Elimination by the kidneys in the form of metabolites.

    The systemic effect of nafazoline may be manifested in children and elderly patients. Antazolinum does not render systemic action.

    Indications:

    It is used for acute seasonal or year-round allergic conjunctivitis and rhinitis.

    Contraindications:

    Closed-angle form of glaucoma.

    The intake of monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAO).

    Individual intolerance.

    Carefully:

    Patients with chronic conjunctivitis are recommended to use the drug for a short time, in cases of exacerbation.

    Pregnancy and lactation:

    Pregnancy and lactation: recommendations for Food and Drug Administration (US Food and Drug Administration) - category C. During pregnancy, the use of the drug is contraindicated. Data on the drug in the breast milk there. It is recommended to stop breastfeeding during treatment.

    Dosing and Administration:

    Adults and children after six years are prescribed 1-2 drops in the conjunctival sac or in the nasal cavity. Re-instillation is recommended not earlier than 4-6 hours.

    It is not recommended to use the drug for more than five days because of the danger of atrophy of the epithelium of the conjunctiva and nasal passages.

    The highest daily dose is 10-12 drops in each nostril or in the conjunctival sac.

    The highest single dose is not more than 3 drops.

    Side effects:

    Local manifestations: swelling of the nasal passages, burning and congestion hyperemia, transient visual disturbances.

    Systemic manifestations: lethargy, increased blood pressure, dizziness.

    Allergic reactions.

    Overdose:

    Most often occurs in children (with occasional ingestion) in the form of systemic disorders: hypothermia, bradycardia, hyperhidrosis, impaired consciousness: retardation, co-infection, coma.

    Anticholinergic symptoms: instability, flush to the face, shortness of breath, hypotension, oppression (loss of consciousness) or hyperstimulation (convulsions, hallucinations) of the central nervous system.

    Treatment: withdrawal of the drug, symptomatic therapy.
    Interaction:It is not recommended to take the drug simultaneously with monoamine oxidase inhibitors - the risk of developing hypertension is increased.
    Special instructions:

    It is not recommended for taking more than five days in a row.

    The effectiveness of the drug decreases with acute colds.
