    Pharmacodynamics:

    Contraindications:

    Hypersensitivity, acute inflammation of the skin, exacerbation of chronic skin diseases, especially with pronounced exudation (acute eczema, dermatitis, exudative psoriasis), lesion of sebaceous hair follicles (folliculitis, furunculosis, acne, sycosis), kidney, liver, pancreas, myocardium.

    Carefully:

    Avoid contact with mucous membranes and eyes.Use with caution in children and people with sensitive skin, with a tendency to folliculitis, in areas with increased hair.

    Pregnancy and lactation:

    Category FDA not determined. It is not recommended for use in pregnancy, breast-feeding and women planning pregnancy.

    Dosing and Administration:

    It is applied externally.

    1st method of use: the liquid is applied a thin layer on the lesions of the skin 1-2 times a day under the bandage.

    2nd method of use: the liquid is applied to the lesions once a day, gradually increasing the application time from 10 to 30 minutes. At the end of this time, the preparation is rinsed from the skin with warm water under a shower with soap or gel. Dryness of the skin or a feeling of contraction is eliminated by the use of softening creams or ointments.

    3rd method of use: 100-150 ml of a mixture with alcohol (1: 1 or 1: 2) is used for tar baths.

    Duration of treatment - up to 4 weeks, breaks between courses - 1-2 months.

    Side effects:

    Hypersensitivity. When applied to areas of skin with increased hair or on the scalp, folliculitis is sometimes observed.

    Application in open areas of the skin (face, neck, hands) can trigger the occurrence of sunburn.

    Overdose:

    When birch tar is used for a long time, there may be signs of intoxication on large areas, including weakness, chills, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, headache, convulsions. Urine may acquire a greenish color (olive urine), contain protein and cylinders.

    Interaction:

    The combination of the drug with drugs that contain sulfur and salicylic acid, enhances its effect.

    Simultaneously with birch tar, sulfanilamide preparations, phenothiazine derivatives and other agents with the properties to increase the photosensitivity of the skin are not prescribed.

    Special instructions:

    Only external application.

    Before starting treatment it is recommended to investigate the tolerance of birch tar on a limited area of ​​the skin. During the treatment, it is necessary to periodically examine the urine (1-2 times per month).

    With long-term use, it stains the skin in a dark color.
