Composition:

Licorice extract is thick - 20.7 g,

Anis ordinary oil seeds - 0.34 grams,

Ammonia solution concentrated 25%,

[equivalent to 0.345 grams of ammonia] - 1.38 grams

Excipients:

Ethanol (ethyl alcohol) 90% - 20.41 ml

Purified water - up to 100 ml

Description:The liquid is brown with the smell of ammonia and anise oil. Precipitation is allowed during storage.

Pharmacodynamics:

The expectorant effect of the thoracic elixir is due to the action of its constituent components:

- Licorice extract has a thick anti-inflammatory and expectorant properties that are associated with the content in the roots of glycyrrhizin, stimulating the activity of ciliated epithelium in the trachea and bronchi, as well as enhancing the secretory function of the mucous membranes of the upper respiratory tract;

- anise ordinary seed oil has an expectorant effect due to the content of anethole in the oil, which promotes reflex excitation of respiration, increases the activity of the ciliary epithelium of the respiratory tract and increases the secretion of the mucous membranes of the larynx, trachea and bronchi;

- ammonia has an irritating effect that leads to the excitation of the endings of the sensory nerves of the upper respiratory tract and reflex stimulation of the respiratory center.

Indications:As an expectorant for infectious inflammatory diseases of the respiratory tract, accompanied by a cough with hard-to-separate sputum (including tracheitis, tracheobronchitis, bronchitis).
Contraindications:Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, bronchial asthma, gastritis, peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum during the exacerbation, pregnancy, the period of breastfeeding.
Carefully:Liver diseases, alcoholism, craniocerebral trauma, brain diseases, children's age.
Dosing and Administration:

Inside 3-4 times a day. Adults on 20 - 40 drops, children are prescribed to take as many drops as the child's age. Before use, dilute in a small amount of water.

The course of treatment is 7-10 days. An increase in the duration and conduct of repeated courses of treatment is possible on the recommendation of a doctor.

Side effects:Allergic reactions are possible, in some cases, diarrhea may occur.
Overdose:

With long-term use with excess of the indicated dosages hypokalemia, increased arterial pressure, the appearance of peripheral edema due to disturbance of water-salt metabolism are possible.

Treatment: symptomatic.

Interaction:If necessary, can be used in combination with antibiotics and other medicines. It should not be used simultaneously with antitussive drugs, as this makes it difficult to cough up thinned phlegm.
Special instructions:The composition contains 90% ethyl alcohol. The content of absolute ethyl alcohol in 1 drop of the drug is 0.0075 g, in the maximum single dose for adults - up to 0.3 g; in the maximum daily dose - up to 1.2 g.
