    Pharmacodynamics:The broad-spectrum aminoglycoside group antibiotic produced Streptomyces kanamyceticus. Has a bactericidal effect. Active with respect to Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Gram-negative bacteria: Escherichia coli, Shigella spp., Salmonella spp., Proteus spp., Enterobacter spp., Klebsiella pneumoniae, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Neisseria meningitidis; Gram-positive cocci: Staphylococcus spp. (including strains producing penicillinase). To kanamycin are insensitive or resistant Pseudomonas spp., Streptococcus spp. Kanamycin is resistant to anaerobic bacteria, yeast, viruses and most protozoa. The sponge has a prolonged antibacterial and hemostatic effect, stimulates the reparative processes in the wound and accelerates its healing. Tamponade of the wound with a sponge leads to a rapid and persistent haemostatic effect.
    Pharmacokinetics:When applied to the wound, the antiseptic sponge with kanamycin swells within 5-10 seconds and absorbs the fluid in amounts exceeding 30-40 times its own weight. At the same time, a depot of the antibiotic kanamycin sulfate is locally created. As the drug dissolves under the action of proteolytic enzymes, kanamycin enters the wound in bactericidal concentrations. Within 10-14 days, the sponge left in the wound is completely absorbed.
    Indications:In adults with the following diseases and conditions:

    - wounds and burns of any location (first aid) - as a means of individual protection;

    - infected wounds of different localization and origin (treatment);

    - thermal, chemical and radiation burns of different severity and localization (for biological coverage) - complex treatment;

    - trophic ulcers (to stimulate reparative processes and accelerate healing) - treatment;

    - as a plastic material for filling infected cavities after sequestrectomy in patients with osteomyelitis;

    - Postoperative complications (prevention of wound infection);

    - Various bleedings, including capillary and parenchymal, arising from surgical interventions and injuries (as a haemostatic agent);

    - as a hemostatic during the lunar hemorrhage in patients with a decrease in blood coagulability (in dental practice).

    XII.L55-L59.L58.9   Radiation dermatitis, unspecified

    XVIII.R50-R69.R58   Bleeding, not elsewhere classified

    XIX.T08-T14.T14.1   Open wound of unspecified area of the body

    XIX.T20-T32.T30   Thermal and chemical burns, unspecified

    XIX.T79.T79.3   Post-traumatic wound infection, not elsewhere classified

    XIX.T80-T88.T81.0   Bleeding and hematoma complicating the procedure, not elsewhere classified

    Contraindications:Hypersensitivity to the drug; kanamycin contraindicated in pregnancy. Stop lactation while you are applying kanamycin.
    Carefully:No data.
    Pregnancy and lactation:Kanamycin contraindicated in pregnancy. If it is necessary to use kanamycin during lactation, the question of stopping breastfeeding should be resolved.
    Dosing and Administration:For wounds and burns, the plates are placed on the prepared wound surface and kept until the liquid separates from the wound. Then apply an aseptic bandage.

    For the prevention of hemorrhagic complications after the operation with a sponge, the bleeding sections of the wound are plastered before the end of the intervention.

    To achieve a haemostatic effect: press the sponge plate for 1 to 3 minutes to the site of bleeding, impregnate the new sponge plates until the bleeding stops completely. The sponge to stop the bleeding is not removed, the sponge left in the wound is completely absorbed in the time frame up to 14 days.

    The total content of kanamycin sulfate in the wound should not exceed 1 million units, since systemic action is possible.

    Side effects:At the observance of the dosage is not revealed at the moment.
    Overdose:There were no cases of overdose.
    Interaction:Kanamycin pharmacologically incompatible with streptomycin, gentamycin, monomycin, penicillins, heparin, cephalosporins, capreomycin, amphotericin B, erythromycin, nitrofurantoin, viomycin.
    Special instructions:No data.
