A.12.C.C.09   Magnesium orotate

Pharmacodynamics:

The preparation of magnesium. Magnesium is a macroelement, it is necessary to provide many energy processes, participates in the exchange of proteins, fats, carbohydrates and nucleic acids. Magnesium takes part in the process of neuromuscular excitation, inhibiting neuromuscular transmission. Of particular interest is magnesium as a natural physiological calcium antagonist. Magnesium controls the normal functioning of myocardial cells; participates in the regulation of contractile function of the myocardium. In stressful situations, an increased amount of free ionized magnesium is excreted, and therefore, an additional amount of magnesium contributes to an increase in resistance to stress.

Magnesium deficiency leads to neuromuscular disorders (motor and sensory hyperexcitability, convulsions, paresthesia), psychological changes (depression, confusion and hallucinations), cardio - vascular disease (ventricular arrhythmia, tachycardia, increased sensitivity to cardiac glycosides). Deficiency of magnesium during pregnancy increases the likelihood of toxicosis and premature birth. The salts of orotic acid participate in the process of metabolism. In addition, orotic acid salts are necessary for fixing magnesium on ATP in the cell and manifesting its action.

Pharmacokinetics:

Approximately 35 to 40% of the dose taken is absorbed. Hypomagnesemia stimulates the absorption of magnesium ions. The presence of salts of orotic acid, contribute to the improvement of magnesium absorption. Magnesium is excreted by the kidneys, excretion decreases with magnesium deficiency and increases with its excess.

Indications:

In complex treatment and as a prophylaxis of myocardial infarction, angina therapy, chronic heart failure, cardiac arrhythmias caused by magnesium deficiency, spastic conditions - pain and muscle spasms (including angiospasm), atherosclerosis, arteritis, lipid metabolism disorders.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to the drug components, urolithiasis, renal dysfunction, predisposition to the formation of calcium-magnesium-ammonium-phosphate stones, cirrhosis of the liver with ascites.

The drug contains lactose, so it should not be used in patients with lactose. intolerance to lactose, deficiency of lactase or glucose-galactose malabsorption.

Children under 18 years.

Pregnancy and lactation:

It is possible to use the drug during pregnancy and lactation (breastfeeding) according to the indications, because during these periods the need for magnesium significantly increases. If its content is not balanced, it can lead to serious complications, including miscarriage. The use of the drug during pregnancy and during lactation is possible if the potential benefit to the mother exceeds the potential risk to the fetus and the baby.

Dosing and Administration:

Tablets should be taken orally, before meals, with a small amount of liquid. Assign 2 tablets 3 times a day for 7 days, then - 1 tablet 2-3 times daily. The duration of the course is not less than 4-6 weeks. If necessary, Magnnerot®, can be used for a long time.

At night cramps calf muscles it is recommended to take in the evening 2-3 tablets.

Side effects:

On the part of the gastrointestinal tract: unstable stools and diarrhea, which usually pass on their own with a decrease in the dose of the drug; allergic reactions.

- If any of the side effects listed in the manual are aggravated, or if you notice any other side effects not listed in the instructions, inform the doctor about it.
Overdose:

With normal kidney function, magnesium ingestion does not cause toxic reactions. Magnesium poisoning can develop with kidney failure. Toxic effects mainly depend on the concentration of magnesium in the blood serum.

Symptoms: decrease in arterial pressure, nausea, vomiting, depression, slowing of reflexes, respiratory depression, coma, cardiac arrest, anuric syndrome.

Treatment: rehydration, forced diuresis. With renal failure, hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis is necessary.

Interaction:With the simultaneous intake of magnesium-containing drugs with preparations of iron, sodium fluoride and tetracyclines, absorption of the latter may decrease. Therefore, you should take the medication with an interval of 2-3 hours. Oral contraceptives, diuretics, muscle relaxants, glucocorticosteroids, insulin reduce the effect of the drug.
Special instructions:It should be borne in mind that diseases of the gastrointestinal tract can lead to a deficiency of magnesium in the body; consumption of food products with a reduced content of magnesium; exercise (due to increased sweating); chronic alcoholism (due to a decrease in the resorption of magnesium in the renal tubules and increased excretion of magnesium ions from the body); taking certain medications (cardiac glycosides, aminogliklosidnye antibiotics, oral contraceptives, diuretics, laxatives, glucocorticosteroids); conditions requiring increased intake of magnesium (hypodynamia, stress, pregnancy and lactation); prolonged exposure to the sun.
Effect on the ability to drive transp. cf. and fur:The drug does not affect the ability to drive vehicles and other activities that require a high concentration of attention and speed of psychomotor reactions. Magnnerot® can be used for a long time.
