    M.02.A.C   Preparations containing derivatives of salicylic acid

    Pharmacodynamics:

    Combined drug, which has analgesic and local irritant effect. Promotes muscle relaxation, stimulates blood flow, which increases the duration of exercise and improves their tolerability.

    Pharmacokinetics:

    Methylsalicylate, when applied externally, penetrates into the tissues through unchanged skin, while the analgesic concentration in the systemic blood flow is not achieved, mainly by the kidneys; the rate of excretion depends on the plasma concentration and pH of the urine. The concentration of racemetol in the systemic circulation during external application is negligible.

    Indications:Cream for external use - zjoint pain, trauma, myalgia, lumbago, arthrosis with a tension of skeletal muscles, warming up massage while playing sports.

    Ointment for external use - rheumatism (articular and muscular), arthritis, exudative pleurisy.

    Contraindications:

    Individual intolerance.

    Violation of the integrity of the skin.

    Inflammatory skin diseases at the site of the intended application.

    Children under 12 years (for sports balm and ointment).

    Carefully:

    I-II trimester of pregnancy.

    Pregnancy and lactation:

    Contraindicated in the III trimester of pregnancy. FROM caution should prescribe the drug in the I-II trimester of pregnancy. Not recommended for lactation.

    Dosing and Administration:

    The drug is applied to a painful area and gently rubbed. The procedure is repeated 3-4 times a day.

    Side effects:

    Redness of the skin, itching, skin rash.

    Hives, angioedema.

    Overdose:

    Overdose of racemenol and methyl salicylate was observed mainly in children, with the occasional ingestion of drugs containing these substances, with external application is rare and only when the drug is misused (application to mucous membranes,on large areas of damaged or infected skin).

    Symptoms of methyl salicylate overdose: excitation, increased depth of breathing, hyperpyrexia.

    Symptoms of an overdose of racemetol: nausea, abdominal pain, vomiting and symptoms of CNS depression, such as dizziness, unstable gait, flushing of the face, drowsiness, respiratory depression and coma.

    Treatment symptomatic and supportive; correction of electrolyte and water balance, the appointment of absorbents and salt laxatives, forced diuresis, external cooling of the body; in severe cases - blood transfusion, hemodialysis.

    Interaction:

    The drug causes flushing of the skin and reflexively enhances blood circulation in the subcutaneous tissue, joint application with other topical preparations can lead to an increase in their absorption.

    Special instructions:

    Do not allow conjunctivitis and other mucous membranes. Do not apply to damaged or irritated skin.

    It is not recommended to use it in conjunction with thermal procedures.
