    Characteristic

    Leaves of peppermint contain flavonoids, essential oil, carotenoids and other biologically active substances.

    Description:

    A mixture of pieces of leaves, stems, rarely - flowers and buds. Color from light green to dark green or greenish-brown with greenish-violet, grayish-white, yellowish-white, brownish-white, pale violet, brownish-violet, violet, black impregnations. The smell is strong, fragrant. The taste of water extract is burning, cooling.

    Pharmacodynamics:

    Infusion of peppermint leaves leaves spasmolytic, soothing, choleretic, antiemetic and locally irritating effect.

    Indications:

    Symptomatic therapy: spasms of smooth muscles of the gastrointestinal tract, nausea, vomiting.

    Contraindications:

    Hypersensitivity to the drug, early childhood (up to 3 years).

    Pregnancy and lactation:

    Application during pregnancy and during breastfeeding is possible if the expected benefit to the mother exceeds the potential risk to the fetus and the baby. It is necessary to consult a doctor.

    Dosing and Administration:

    About 5 g (1 tablespoon) of peppermint leaves are placed in enameled pots, pour 200 ml (1 cup) of hot boiled water, cover with a lid and heat in a boiling water bath with periodic stirring for 15 minutes, cool at room temperature for 45 minutes, filter, the remaining raw material is squeezed. The volume of the infusion obtained is adjusted to 200 ml with boiled water.

    Infusion takes 2-3 times a day 15 minutes before meals: children from 3 to 6 years - 1 dessert spoon, children from 6 to 14 years - 1-2 tablespoons, children over 14 years and adults - 1 / 3-1 / 2 cup.

    Before use, the infusion is recommended to be shaken.
