Nonoxynol is a nonionic surface-active compound, its spermicidal effect due to fragmentation and reduction in sperm motility. Has bactericidal activity against gonococci and chlamydia. In vitro is active in relation to HIV infections, but there are no clinical data on reducing the risk of HIV infection with nonoxynol. Lactic acid has a beneficial effect on normal miklofloru and vaginal mucosa.
When using the suppository, the concentration of nonoxinol in the vagina averages 1 to 1.7%, which is sufficient for the development of spermicidal activity.Spermicidal action of the suppository occurs after its dissolution, approximately 10 minutes after insertion into the vagina, and lasts no more than 2 hours.
When applying the drug, foam is not formed.
