Laxatives
Included in the formulation
АТХ:A.06.A.D Laxative preparations with osmotic properties
A.06.A.D.12 Lactitol
Pharmacodynamics:In the large intestine splits lactitol into low-molecular organic acids, which increases the osmotic pressure, increases the volume of fecal masses, softens them, normalizes the bowel, facilitates defecation.
With hepatic encephalopathy due to a decrease in pH and an increase in osmotic pressure in the lumen of the intestine, there is a migration of ammonia from the blood to the large intestine, followed by the removal of nitrogen-containing toxic substances.
Lactitol increases the number of acidophilic bacteria and suppresses proteolytic bacteria.
Pharmacokinetics:After oral administration has a pharmacological effect in the large intestine, absorbed in 0,5-2%.
Indications:Used to adjust the stool with constipation, with liver failure, and also in preparation for operations on the rectum.
IV.E70-E90.E72.2 Disorders of urea cycle exchange
XI.K55-K63.K59.0 Constipation
XI.K70-K77.K72 Hepatic failure, not elsewhere classified
Contraindications:- Galactosemia.
- Intestinal obstruction.
- Suspicion of organic lesions of the gastrointestinal tract.
- Rectal bleeding.
- Individual intolerance.
Carefully:Individual intolerance.
Pregnancy and lactation:Recommendations for FDA - Category B. The drug has no systemic effect, is used for pregnant and lactating women.
Dosing and Administration:When constipation is taken inwards while eating, mixing with drinks or liquid food, 20 grams once a day.
With hepatic encephalopathy, hyperammonemia, the dose is selected individually: from 500 to 700 mg / kg for three doses.
The highest daily dose: 60 g (6 sachets) - with hepatic encephalopathy.
The highest single dose: 10 g per day.
Use in children1-6 years: 2.5-5 g per day;
6-12 years: 5-10 grams per day,
12-16 years: 10-20 grams per day.
Side effects:Digestive system: flatulence, a feeling of discomfort in the abdomen.
Metabolism: violation of electrolyte balance during long-term treatment with high doses of hepatic encephalopathy.
Allergic reactions.
Overdose:Symptoms: nausea, vomiting.
Treatment: decrease in the dose of the drug.
Interaction:When used simultaneously with drugs that have a pH-dependent release, it must be taken into account that lactitol reduces the pH of the intestine.
Special instructions:The drug has a low calorie content - 2 kcal / g and does not affect the blood glucose level, so it can be prescribed to patients with diabetes mellitus.
During treatment, increased fluid intake is recommended.
