    Pharmacodynamics:

    Has anthelmintic effect.

    It blocks succinate dehydrogenase, inhibits the fumarate reduction process, disrupting the energy metabolism of helminths. Paralyzed due to depolarization of membranes, helminths are removed from the intestine with normal peristalsis. The drug exhibits the greatest activity in relation to Ascaris lumbricoides, Ancylostoma duodenale and Necator Americanus.
    Pharmacokinetics:

    After oral administration, it is absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract. The maximum concentration of the drug in the blood plasma is reached after 1.5-4 hours Metabolized in the liver.

    The half-life is 4 hours, for metabolites - 16 hours.

    Elimination in the form of metabolites by the kidneys, a small amount - with feces.

    Indications:It is used as an anthelmintic agent.

    Contraindications:

    Individual intolerance.

    Carefully:

    Acute infectious processes, convulsive conditions.

    Pregnancy and lactation:Recommendations for FDA - Category C. It is used in pregnant women only in those cases when the expected effect exceeds the harmful effect. When lactation is recommended on the day of taking the drug, stop breastfeeding.
    Dosing and Administration:

    Use in children

    Inside 1 month. - 18 years of 2.5-3 mg / kg once. The maximum dose is 150 mg.

    Adults

    Once inside 150 mg during meals, preferably at night. Repeated reception of the drug if necessary in 2-3 weeks at the same dose.

    The highest daily dose: 150 mg.

    The highest single dose: 150 mg.

    Side effects:

    Central and peripheral nervous system: depression, nervousness.

    Hemopoietic system: thrombocytopenia, agranulocytosis.

    Digestive system: nausea, vomiting, anorexia, diarrhea, constipation, rarely - acute pancreatitis.

    Sense organs: violation of smell and taste.

    Allergic reactions.

    Overdose:

    Symptoms: vomiting, dizziness, convulsions, lethargy, confusion.

    Treatment: symptomatic.

    Interaction:

    It is not compatible with alcohol because of the risk of antabuse (disulfiram-like) reactions.

    Increases prothrombin time with simultaneous administration with coumarin-like anticoagulants.

    When used simultaneously with lipophilic drugs (chloroform, ether, carbon tetrachloride, tetrachlorethylene), the toxicity of levamisole is enhanced.

    Special instructions:

    One day before taking the drug, on the day of taking and after 1 day, alcohol intake is strictly contraindicated.
