    Pharmacodynamics:

    It inhibits the proliferation of psoriasis. Has a photosensitizing effect. After ingestion, when exposed to long-wave ultraviolet irradiation, it interacts with epidermal cell DNA, reducing the rate of their proliferation and enhancing the processes of melanogenesis. Activates the transition of melanocytes into the epidermis from the hair follicle.

    Pharmacokinetics:

    After ingestion with milk or low-fat food, up to 95% is absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract. The maximum concentration in blood plasma is reached after 0.5-4 hours. The connection with plasma proteins is up to 98%.

    The antipsoriatic effect develops 10 or more weeks after the start of the treatment. It accumulates in the cells of the epidermis. It is exposed to biotransformation under the influence of ultraviolet radiation with a wavelength of 320-400 nm.

    The elimination half-life is 2 hours. Elimination by the kidneys in the form of metabolites during the day. Elimination with faeces is 4-10%.

    It is used for the treatment of psoriasis, red lichen planus, vitiligo, mushroom mycosis.

    Contraindications:

    Malignant and benign tumor processes, blood diseases, melanoma, diabetes mellitus, eye diseases, renal and hepatic insufficiency.

    Dosing and Administration:

    Inside with milk or low-fat food for 2 hours before ultraviolet irradiation of 30-40 mg (3-4 capsules) once. The course of treatment is up to 1-3 months. The effect of the drug is only due to insolation. Exposure to UV radiation in the first days is limited to 5 minutes, then increases to 30 minutes.

    Side effects:

    Overdose:

    Interaction:

    Increase the risk of phototoxicity foods containing coumarin: carrots, mustard, lime, parsley, celery.

    Summarize the photosensitizing effect: antaline, griseofulvin, tar and its derivatives, halogen containing preparations, phenothiazines, nalidixic acid, quinolones and fluoroquinolones, halogenated salicylates, tetracyclines, sulfonamides, organic dyes, thiazides.

    With simultaneous use with phenothiazines, photochemical destruction of the fiber, the lens and the choroid of the eyes takes place.

    Special instructions:

    Before taking the drug, you should not take sun baths for 24 hours. After taking methoxaline, you should wear sunglasses for 8 hours to avoid the development of cataracts.
