    Pharmacodynamics:

    Inhibits the synthesis of bacterial proteins by reversible and specific binding to isoleucine-transfer-RNA-synthesis, which leads to bacteriostatic action. The drug is a broad-spectrum antibiotic, effective against Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Escherichia coli, Haemophilus influenzae, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Neisseria meningitidis, Moraxella catarrhalis, Bordetella pertussis, Pasteurella multocida, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Proteus vulgaris, Proteus mirabilis, Enterobacter cloacae, Enterobacter aerogenes, Citrobacter freundii.

    Pharmacokinetics:

    The level of systemic absorption from the mucous is low, metabolized before monic acid, excreted by the kidneys.

    Indications:

    - bacterial skin infections: impetigo, folliculitis, furunculosis (including furuncles of the external auditory canal and auricle), ecthima;

    - atTory bacterial infections: infected eczema, infected injuries (abrasions, insect bites), minor (hospital-free) wounds and burns;

    - prevention of infections in surgical incisions and minor wounds;

    - inflammatory diseases of the nasal cavity.

    Pregnancy and lactation:

    Dosing and Administration:

    Outwardly, locally, 3 times a day, the course - 10 days. With intranasal application - 2-3 times a day, the course of treatment - 5-7 days.

    Side effects:

    When topical application may occur itching, tingling, burning, dryness, pain, redness, rash, swelling, nausea, abdominal pain, dizziness, secondary wound infections, ulcerative stomatitis.

    With intranasal application - cough, respiratory distress, sore throat (pharyngitis), pain in the ears, headache, burning, tingling in the nose, rhinitis, rhinorrhea, taste changes, itchy skin.

    Overdose:

    Not described, treatment is symptomatic.

    Interaction:

    Avoid concomitant use with other medicines for external use, as this may reduce the antibacterial activity of mupirocin in the ointment.

    Special instructions:

    It is necessary to strictly observe the compliance of the used dosage form with indications for use.

    Polyethylene glycol, which is part of the ointment for skin application, can be adsorbed through damaged skin,and since it is excreted by the kidneys, it should be used with caution in the presence of severe renal failure. Nasal ointment can not be used in ophthalmology.

    Does not affect the ability to drive vehicles or other mechanisms.
