Pharmacodynamics:

It is easily absorbed from the intestine, in the liver it is converted to urea.Excess ions of chlorine and sodium water are excreted by the kidneys, thus increasing diuresis, and pH urine shifted to the acid side. The drug increases the excretion of potassium from the body.

Biotransformation in tissues leads to the formation of active metabolites, which have irritating and antimicrobial properties.

Ammonium chloride activates the function of ciliary epithelium and contractility of the bronchi, thereby increasing the sputum discharge.

Efficacy is shown in Meniere's disease, premenstrual syndrome, phencyclidine intoxication (combined therapy).

Pronounced disorders of kidney and liver function; metabolic alkalosis; pregnancy.

Pregnancy and lactation:

The drug is contraindicated for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Dosing and Administration:

The drug is taken internally after meal: diuretic - adults by 8-12 g in several doses, duration of treatment 3-5 days with a break. AT as an expectorant: adults 0.2-0.5 grams, children - 0.1-0.25 g 3-5 times a day, divided into several receptions.

Side effects:

Digestive system: irritation of the gastric mucosa, nausea, vomiting.

Common symptoms: intoxication with violation of breathing and heart rhythm, pallor, increased sweating, in severe cases - coma.

Overdose:

Characteristic severe metabolic acidosis, disruption of orientation and consciousness, in severe cases - coma.

In therapy are appointed alkaline solutions (sodium hydrogen carbonate or sodium lactate).
