A.05.B.A.01 Arginine
Pharmacodynamics:By oxidation of arginine appears nitrogen oxide - endothelial relaxant factor. Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) blocker.
Relieves spasm of blood vessels, including coronary vessels. Improves microcirculation in all organs and tissues. Participates in the ornithine cycle of urea synthesis, neutralizing ammonia.
Activates cellular (T-lymphocytes) and humoral (IgE) immunity.
Strengthens the erection and improves sperm properties.
Pharmacokinetics:Not studied.
Indications:Used to treat primary hypertension in combination with other antihypertensive drugs. When there is a lack of arginine in the human body is used as a biologically active additive. It is a raw material for the production of biologically active additives.

Contraindications:Endogenous mental illness.
Active process with herpetic infection - viruses use arginine for replication.

Pregnancy and lactation:Recommendations for Food and Drug Administration (US Food and Drug Administration) - not defined. During pregnancy and lactation the drug is not used.
Dosing and Administration:It is ingested in capsules of 500 mg each.
The highest daily dose is 30 g.
The highest single dose is 1 g.
Side effects:Thickening of the skin - amino acid arginine is a part of fibrous fibers of connective tissue. After drug cancellation, side effects disappear.
Allergic reactions.
Overdose:Headache, palpitations, hallucinations.
Interaction:The simultaneous use of arginine with other donators of nitric oxide (nitrates, Viagra) can cause an overdose phenomenon.
When combined with antioxidants, helps lower blood cholesterol levels.
Special instructions:In some countries (Greece, Japan) the drug is used in the form of injections to stop an acute attack of angina pectoris.
Slows down the processes of diabetic angiopathy.
