    Pharmacodynamics:Blockade of cough reflex at the level of the cough center.
    Pharmacokinetics:Absorption is high. Biotransformation in the liver. Half-life - 6 hours (syrup) and 13 hours (depot tablets). Do not cumulate. Elimination by the kidneys in the form of metabolites.
    Indications:Dry cough of any etiology: in preoperative and postoperativeth period, during surgical interventions, bronchoscopy, whooping cough.

    Contraindications:Hypersensitivitypregnancy, first trimester, children under 2 months (for drops), up to 3 years (for syrup), up to 12 years (for depot tablets).
    Carefully:Diseases accompanied by productive cough; arterial hypertension.
    Pregnancy and lactation:

    Butamirate is contraindicated for use in the first trimester of pregnancy and during lactation (breastfeeding). In the II and III trimesters of pregnancy butamate use with caution, only in those cases where the expected therapeutic effect for the mother exceeds the potential risk to the fetus.

    Dosing and Administration:

    Adults:

    When ingestion - 5 mg 3-4 times / day. When administered intravenously, a single dose is 10-20 mg. When administered intramuscularly, the daily dose is up to 50 mg.

    For children, the dose is calculated according to age.

    Side effects:Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, exanthema, allergic reactions.
    Overdose:

    Symptoms: drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, dizziness, irritability, impaired coordination of movements, lowering blood pressure.

    Treatment: mild forms of treatment overdosage do not require; in severe cases - gastric lavage, the appointment of activated charcoal,salt laxatives, symptomatic therapy.

    Interaction:Clinically significant are not described.
    Special instructions:

    During the period of treatment is not recommended to drink alcohol and drugs that suppress the central nervous system (hypnotics, neuroleptics, tranquilizers and others.).

    You can prescribe a drug patients with diabetes mellitus, since as a sweetener in syrup and drops used sorbitol and saccharin. Tablets of 50 mg contain lactose.
