Fruits are apple-shaped, from globular to ellipsoidal, solid, wrinkled, 6-14 mm long, 5-11 mm wide, with a ring rim on top, formed by shriveled sepals. In the flesh of the fruit there are 1-5 woody bones having irregular triangular, oval or laterally compressed shape. The surface of the pits is pitted - wrinkled or furrowed along the back. The color of the fruit is from yellow-orange and brownish-red to dark brown or black, sometimes with a whitish coating of crystallized sugar. The smell is absent. The taste of water extract is sweetish.

Pharmacodynamics:

Infusion of hawthorn fruit has a cardiac, spasmolytic and moderate sedative effect, exhibits antihypertensive properties, normalizes blood coagulability.

Indications:

In complex therapy of functional disorders of cardiovascular activity (neurocirculatory dystonia, cardialgia).

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to the drug, children's age (up to 12 years), pregnancy (I trimester).

Dosing and Administration:

About 15 grams (1 tablespoon) of fruit are placed in enameled pots, pour 200 ml (1 glass) of hot boiled water, cover with a lid and insist on a boiling water bath for 30 minutes, cool at room temperature for 10 minutes, filter, the remaining raw material is squeezed . The volume of the resulting broth is brought to 200 ml with boiled water.

Take the inside of the glass 2-3 times a day for 30 minutes before eating. The course of treatment is 20 - 30 days.

Before use, the broth is recommended to be shaken.

Side effects:

Allergic reactions are possible. With prolonged use of the drug in large doses, drowsiness, lowering of blood pressure, bradycardia are possible.

Interaction:

When combined with cardiac glycosides, the cardiotonic effect increases; with beta-blockers - it is possible to increase the hypotensive effect.
