Fruits are apple-shaped, from spherical to ellipsoidal, hard, wrinkled, 6-14 mm long, 5-11 mm wide, with a ring rim on top, formed by shriveled sepals. In the flesh of the fetus are 1-5 woody bones. The surface of the ossicles is pitted or wrinkled or furrowed along the back. The color of the fruit is from yellow-orange and brownish-red to dark brown or black, sometimes with a whitish coating of crystallized sugar. The smell is absent. The taste of water extract is sweetish.

Pharmacodynamics:

Decoction of hawthorn fruit has cardiotonic, spasmolytic and moderate sedative effect, exhibits antihypertensive properties, normalizes blood coagulability.

Indications:

In complex therapy of functional disorders of cardiovascular activity (neuro-circulatory dystonia, cardialgia).

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to the drug, pregnancy (I trimester), children's age (up to 12 years).

Dosing and Administration:

About 15 g (1 tablespoon) of hawthorn fruit are placed in enameled pots, pour 200 ml (1 glass) of hot boiled water, cover with a lid and insist on a boiling water bath for 30 minutes, cool at room temperature for 10 minutes, filter, the remaining raw materials squeeze out. The volume of the resulting broth is brought to 200 ml with boiled water.

Take inside 1/2-1 / 3 cup 2-3 times a day for 30 minutes before eating. The course of treatment is 20-30 days. It is recommended to stir the broth before use.

Side effects:

Interaction:

When combined with cardiac glycosides, the cardiotonic effect increases; with beta-blockers - it is possible to increase the hypotensive effect.
